Chucks Voodoo Lounge

Reviews

Their soups/stews are great. You can never go wrong with their Seafood Gumbo and their portions are huge. You won't leave here hungry, that's for sure and the prices are reasonable. Their BBQ is good but I prefer dry rub and their BBQ has too much sauce for me. Good beer selection as well. - William L., Flushing, NY (Yelp 02/20/2011)

We went here last night for my brother's birthday. There was a party of 10 of us. 1 star for the service. It was impeccable. Seriously. Bravo to our server. I can't remember her name. She knew everything about the menu and was prompt, but not interruptive. 1 star for the beer menu. 120 beers?! Holler! And at reasonable prices. My purple haze was on special for $3. Every other regular beer you'd want was between $4 and $5. Even Chimay was a mere $8. But then again, we were in Burbank and I am used to 60657 prices. 1 star for the selection and quality of appetizers. 1 star for everyone else's food and that they cut the b-day cake we brought and that Chuck came out and said hey. Minus one star because the pork shoulder special that I had was incredibly salty. I could hardly eat it. In fact, I didn't eat it. I'll be back to try something else. - Cristy N, Chicago (Yelp 01/28/2011)

I was really impressed with Chuck's menu and beer list. We were lured by a Groupon, and even though we were using the Groupon on the last night before expiration, there was no wait at the huge restaurant.

The four of us who went ordered from all parts of the menu. The barbeque was outstanding, although I was glad they provided more sauce on the side. I loved the jalapeno cornbread, the fiesta salad won rave reviews from my friend. My other friend brought the gumbo home, it was so good, and I ordered the crawfish ettouffee which was spicy and GOOD. It was even better the next day. I need to learn how to make the tomato-chipotle rice, or whatever it was. Yum!

The best part though (for me) was the complementary beer list. Each beer was listed with the food it tastes best with. Since I really like beer and I don't like it when they don't match, but I'm not good enough to know, it was great to have this handy guide. I ended up with the Abita Golden Ale, which was really a nice complement to the spiciness of the ettouffee.

Yes, it's in the suburbs. Yes, it's kind of a hike to get to from the North Side. But if you're looking for something different and tasty, Chuck's is a nice option! - Amanda, Chicago (Yelp - 01/05/2011)

We first heard of Chuck's from James Ward on ABC7 a few years ago. We go there 2 or 3 times a week. The BBQ is great of course, but the Creole, Cajun and TexMex dishes are outstanding. Better than New Orleans. Jack Chicago, IL

Catering my Wife's graduation with Chuck's BBQ was a highlight of an already wonderful experience. I actually had to hide food to ensure we had leftovers as my guests were sneaking food out for their own late-night guilty pleasures. GREAT VALUE!!! GREAT FOOD!!! Dan Evergreen park , IL

This is the best place to eat in Chicagoland! I have some relatives that travel 1 hour to eat at Chucks once a month. Since I learned about Chucks I return as much as possible. They also serve elite beers like 3 Floyds and Albita, and the FOOD will keep you coming back for more. Chucks BBQ Sauce to go - I use it on almost everything! Mike Pawinski Chicago, IL
